Pietro Iori was born in 1973 in Reggio Emilia, where he lives and works. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna in 1998. In his works, every material used (graphics, photography, video-sculpture) is decontextualized to acquire new conceptual connotations; formally there is always the relationship between objects, given by the pictorial, sculptural sign and the photographic apparatus. Between 1997 and 1998 he participates in an intercultural project by moving to Berlin and exhibiting there. In Germany he exhibits in the collective at the White Box in München in 2004. In 1998 he exhibited at the Germanic Institute of Bologna and in 2004 at the Centre Culturel Français of Turin. He is one of Sol Lewitt’s assistants for the work ‘Whirls and Twirls 1’, a wall drawing at the Panizzi Library in Reggio Emilia and in 2007 he collaborates for the production of Mimmo Paladino’s ‘Cimento’ work within the Fondazione Maramotti in Reggio Emilia. Reference galleries are Bonioni of Reggio Emilia and Eidos Contemporary Images of Asti with which he participates in national and international fairs (MIA, MiArt, ArtParis).

Pietro Iori’s presence in public exhibitions such ‘Contro-e-vento’ (Museo del Mare di Genova, 2006) was prestigious. In addition to that successful event, we mention ‘Fotografia europea: la città e l’Europa’, Centro Internazionale Malaguzzi, Reggio Emilia, (2007); ‘Il pittore e il pesce’, Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, Venezia, (2008); ‘Intimate Travel’, Scavi Scaligeri, Verona, (2010); ‘Passo dopo passo…nella storia e nel mito di Capri’ edited by Rosanna Chiessi and Mariano Della Corte (Capri, 2010); ‘Dentro di sé, fuori da sé’ by Raffaella A. Caruso at II Biennale di Video e Fotografia Contemporanea, Alessandria, (2011); ‘Dans l’atelier du photographe: la photographie mise en scène’, edited by Anne Cartier-Bresson, Musée Bourdelle, Paris (2012); ‘Obbligatoriamente transitori’, Colorno Photo Life, Reggia di Colorno (2013); ‘I have a dream’, Palazzo Reale, Milano (2014). In 2011 Pietro Iori exhibits at the 54 ͣ Biennale di Venezia.

Among the latest personal exhibitions we mention ‘Risorta’ in 2015 at Bonioni Arte and, in 2017 ‘Panorama Spaesato’, a suggestive reflection on the idea of collection and archive at Palazzo dei Musei, Reggio Emilia.
